There was an error in this patch that has now been fixed in blead with 008e8e8. However, the warnings will still be raised when the locale is not UTF-8. The cpantester report was using a UTF-8 locale, so if it were not for the blead bug, it might have missed the problem with non-UTF-8 locales. I'm not sure what the best way forward is. If the cpan testing doesn't try with a non-UTF-8 locale, this bug will appear "fixed" to it. The module's tests are assuming a UTF-8 locale without checking (AFAIK), so there is an issue in the module or its tests. I have submitted a pull request to the module containing the simplest solution, but there are perhaps better alternatives, which I've spelled out as best as I know in the commit message, so that the author can make a determination of how to proceed. |

From @khwilliamsonSince there is no longer anything for the perl core to do regarding this, I'm closing the ticket, even though the pull request for the module has not been acted upon |
