I received a similar error for every depency that configure tried to find
from this point on. I can not find any information regarding this set of
errors and currently have no clue on a place to search for answers.
Here is the output from ./myconfig
Summary of my perl5 (5.0 patchlevel 4 subversion 1) configuration:
  Platform:
  osname=solaris, osvers=2.6, archname=sun4-solaris
  uname='sunos ih99 5.6 generic_105181-12 sun4m sparc sunw,sparcstation-20
'
  hint=previous, useposix=true, d_sigaction=define
  bincompat3=y useperlio=undef d_sfio=undef
  Compiler:
  cc='cc', optimize='-O', gccversion=2.7.2
  cppflags='-I/opt/gnu/include'
  ccflags ='-I/opt/gnu/include'
  stdchar='unsigned char', d_stdstdio=define, usevfork=false
  voidflags=15, castflags=0, d_casti32=define, d_castneg=define
  intsize=4, alignbytes=8, usemymalloc=y, randbits=15
  Linker and Libraries:
  ld='cc', ldflags =' -L/usr/local/lib -L/opt/gnu/lib'
  libpth=/usr/local/lib /opt/gnu/lib /lib /usr/lib /usr/ccs/lib

  cccdlflags='-fpic', lddlflags='-G -L/usr/local/lib -L/opt/gnu/lib'
Any help would be appreciated

thanks
