From andrew@pimlott.net

Created by andrew@pimlott.net

perl often emits errors and warnings out of order, that is, a message about
line 2 before a message about line 1. Just a random example with a syntax
error and a warning:

  % perl -wc
  !=;
  my $x; my $x;
  "my" variable $x masks earlier declaration in same scope at - line 2.
  syntax error at - line 1, near "!="
  - had compilation errors.

This is pretty silly, and it gets annoying when the first error is the cause
of all the rest (as is often the case with syntax errors). Especially in an
IDE (such as vim) that takes you to the first error emitted.
