On Sun Sep 26 12​:27​:28 2010, I wrote​:

$ perl -le'$glob = *foo; open $fh, ">", \$glob; print $fh "hello";
print $glob'
hello

I mistyped the command. It should have had ">>", not ">".

This bug was fixed in 5.13.5, probably by 526fd1b.
