I think it would good if the 'r' flag didn't stop this working.

% perl -e 'sub where { warn pos }; $_ = "banana"; s/n/where()/rgee'

Compared to without the 'r' flag​:

% perl -e 'sub where { warn pos }; $_ = "banana"; s/n/where()/gee'
2 at -e line 1.
