I had a look at it, but RPerl is far too intricate for me to easily
spot what's the matter. I think its down to Will in the first instance to
debug this.

I have informed RPerl of the problem, linked them to the updated perlguts docs, and asked them to let us know if they encounter any further difficulty.

I'm closing this ticket at least until we get further news.
