  s/a/b/z;
  Unknown regexp modifier "/z"

  tr/a/b/z;
  Bareword found where operator expected...

It would be nice if the parsing of tr/// were more like that of s///,
so useful error messages can be reported on unknown modifiers.

I do apologize about the confidentiality garbage; I thought by sending mail
from a Linux box I could get past it, but apparently not.
