This is a bug report for perl from james_avera@​yahoo.com,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.39 running under perl 5.14.2.

eval '$_' in package DB returns undef if the calling module's
context is the default clause of given($x) where $x is a lexical,
and there are no when branches coded. The presence of unmatched when
clauses makes the problem go away.

The following prints 123, undef (wrongly), 123, 123​:
