PerlIO::via cloning is broken #13720
Comments
From zefram@fysh.orgCreated by zefram@fysh.orgAn I/O handle with a PerlIO::via layer can't be cloned, and the error $ perl -we 'use PerlIO::via::QuotedPrint; binmode STDOUT, ":via(QuotedPrint)"; open(my $fh, ">&", "STDOUT")' This contrasts with the success one gets from some PerlIO layers, and $ perl -we 'binmode STDOUT, ":utf8"; open(my $fh, ">&", "STDOUT")' Perl Info

Successes... you wish. Don't forget the cases where the handle is cloned but the layer is silently dropped, see ticket #34595 . |
