This is a bug report for perl from khw@​karl.(none),
generated with the help of perlbug 1.39 running under perl 5.17.9.


Code for tr/// uses I32 variables instead of IV (or perhaps it should be
UV). This means that if you want to transliterate a code point above
I32_MAX, there is overflow, and things silently don't work

I'm closing this, as the usage now is no longer silent; it raises a deprecation warning, and perldiag warns that these things may not work properly
