I'm finding that system('...command...') calls are returning the correct
answer shifted left 8 bits. My specific case is PVCS VDIFF -t which
returns 0, 1, or 2 depending on how the difference function turns out.
I'm getting 0, 256, or 512 since I have installed build 522.

Do you still have this issue on newer versions of Perl?
