From msouth@shodor.org

There is a file in /tmp named ".perldoc", so perldoc won't work

perldoc dies at line 352:
  mkdir("/tmp/.perldoc",0755) || die "mkdir /tmp/.perldoc: $!";

I kludged a fix, here's the diff output:

333a334

my $dir;
352,353c353,366
< mkdir("/tmp/.perldoc",0755) || die "mkdir /tmp/.perldoc: $!";
< $tmp = "/tmp/.perldoc/perldoc1.$$";
---
my $trial_dir = "/tmp/.perldoc";

  my $success = 0;
  $dir = $trial\_dir;
  my $i;
  foreach  $i \(0\.\.999\)\{
    $success =  mkdir\("$dir"\,0755\);
    if \($success\) \{
      $tmp = $dir\."/perldoc1\.$$";
      last;
    \}
    else \{ $dir = $trial\_dir\.$i \}
  \}
  unless \($success\) \{die "no luck on mkdir\(/tmp/\.perldoc\[0\.\.999\]\,0755\)"\}

< rmdir "/tmp/.perldoc";#for unix only, we ignore the errors for other systems

rmdir $dir; #for unix only, we ignore the errors for other systems
