From kstar@chapin.edu

  `make distclean' in perl 5.005_62 takes longer than it used to,
and (at least in some circumstances) leaves the source distribution
in an unbuildable state. Trying to run Configure then produces the
following results​:

$ ./Configure
rm​: ./cmdline.opt​: Permission denied
rm​: ./extract​: Permission denied
rm​: ./loc​: Permission denied
rm​: ./myread​: Permission denied
rm​: ./optdef.sh​: Permission denied
rm​: ./posthint.sh​: Permission denied
rm​: ./tr​: Permission denied
./Configure​: cannot create try​: permission denied
