  `make distclean' takes longer than it used to, and (at least in some
circumstances) leaves the source distribution in an unbuildable state.
Trying to run Configure then produces the following results​:

$ ./Configure
rm​: ./cmdline.opt​: Permission denied
rm​: ./extract​: Permission denied
rm​: ./loc​: Permission denied
rm​: ./myread​: Permission denied
rm​: ./optdef.sh​: Permission denied
rm​: ./posthint.sh​: Permission denied
rm​: ./tr​: Permission denied
./Configure​: cannot create try​: permission denied
