$ gunzip < latest.tar.gz|tar xvf -
$cd perl5*
$sh Configure

So far so good. but now I cannot go to the next step of making perl
because there is no 'make ' file available. The files available in the
following path are​:
$pwd
../perl5.005_03
$ls -l |grep make
makeaperl
makeaperl.SH
makedepend
makedepend.SH

Any suggestions..??

I have unpacked the gunzipped and tarred file I downloaded from the
perl.com site --> latest.tar.gz. Ran the following cmds​:

$ gunzip < latest.tar.gz|tar xvf -
$cd perl5*
$sh Configure
