At line 4754 of utf8.c, in Perl__swash_to_invlist, I stumbled
across these two lines of code.

  while (isSPACE(*l)) l++;
  l = (U8 *) after_atou;

The first line is skipping whitespace, but it has no effect, because
the second line sets the value of l.

The immediately obvious thing to do would be to remove the first line,
but it makes me wonder how the code got to be like this, and if there
was supposed to be something else that happened here.

Well, I think it is most likely a copy-paste error, probably on my part. It's just human error with no further meaning. I've removed it in 047c7c8
